First Thailand Travel Show Takes Off!
TTG Asia to launch International Travel Show, Thailand in August 2004
Singapore, 22 March 2004 – TTG Asia will launch the first International Travel Show, Thailand (ITS) in 2004 in Thailand from August 20 to 22.
The first travel show of its kind in Thailand, ITS will be a one-stop shopping event for hundreds of Thai consumers and expatriates looking for holidays and tour packages within and outside Thailand. Hundreds of trade visitors are also expected to visit ITS to buy Thai travel products and services. ITS Thailand is therefore a platform for tourism markets and travel suppliers to tap into the domestic and international travel potential of Thailand.
This year’s ITS will take place at the IMPACT Exhibition Center in Bangkok between August 20 and 22, and will be a three-day event. The first day (20 August 2004) will be opened to the trade while the second and third days (21 & 22 August 2004) are reserved for the public. The exhibition will have a floorspace of 10,000 square metres and 100,000 visitors are expected to visit the show.
TTG Asia’s Managing Director Darren Ng says, “ There is no better time than now to launch ITS in Thailand. The Thai economy has recovered and has been registering positive economic growth rates since 2000. Also, travel figures for Thailand – 65 million domestic trips and 1.9 million outbound travellers in 2003 – indeed show that the Thais have a penchant for travel. And these figures are projected to grow.”
“ Thailand has a population of 63 million people, out of which an estimated 10 million people resided in the capital, Bangkok. The Thais travel extensively within Thailand - to cities, towns and resorts such as Phuket, Pattaya, Chiangmai and Chiangrai - and many more travel to the neighbouring countries that share borders with Thailand - Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia,” Mr Ng added.
To commemorate TTG Asia’s 30th Anniversary and the debut of ITS, the organisers are offering an attractive incentive for exhibitor participation – a total of 60 per cent discount off exhibiting space rates.
“This huge discount means tremendous savings for exhibitors. We will be inviting travel suppliers and tour operators in and outside Bangkok to participate at ITS. Tourism markets targeting the Thailand outbound market will be encouraged to exhibit. ” Mr Ng explained.
ITS Thailand will be the first of a series of International Travel Shows in countries in Asia that is organised by TTG Asia. TTG Asia are also the organisers of established shows like IT&CMA (Incentive Travel & Conventions, Meetings Asia), CTW Asia-Pacific (Corporate Travel World Asia-Pacific), DM Asia (Direct Marketing Asia) and ATF (ASEAN Tourism Forum - 1998, 2000 and 2003).
